Kitchen Prep (9:00 - 11:30 am)
Come join a team, Monday-Friday, chopping veggies, making dessert, learning new skills, socializing and making connections
Serving Guests
This is done each Monday-Friday at noon; many of our kitchen help are servers, but sometimes we need an extra one to lend a hand!
Dishes - in the kitchen
Do you enjoy working semi independently and enjoy the satisfaction of making something sparkle? If so, join our dishwashing team! We are always looking for committed volunteers to help put the kitchen back together after each meal, Monday-Friday.
Sorting Produce
This job sounds easy, but can be a bit labour intensive! We run on generous donations from the community that surrounds us. A couple days a week we sift through boxes of donations (produce, dairy and odds & ends). If you have a keen eye and are good with clipping off the ‘bad’ pieces of produce and salvaging the rest, then this would be a great job for you!
Organizing Donations

This position would be perfect for someone who has great organizational skills and a strong body! We are continuously accepting donations of dry goods, which need to sorted and organized in a timely manner. This is a great job for a ‘pair’!

Deep Cleaning

I know that we may not clean our own homes quite this much, but here we do our best to stay on top of it all! Deep cleaning means defrosting the freezers and sanitizing the inside, washing the walk-in cooler top to bottom, washing and sanitizing the chairs on a regular basis, washing baseboards, bleaching coffee mugs etc. If you enjoy working independently or with a couple team members, this would be a great start for you!

Wrap Cutlery

Sit, socialize and wrap! For Food Safe regulations, we like to wrap up the cutlery needed with a napkin and then hand them out to our guests and volunteers as they pick up a plate. Are you looking for a task that you can sit at and work with your hands while you socialize? This task can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Driving/Picking up

We cannot thank our community donors enough! With our van (donated by the Rotary Club) we are able to pick up donations 5 days a week. If you have a valid Class 5 driving license and are willing to perform a drivers abstract, please let us know. We can never have enough drivers!

Gardening

This is always fun when the weather is sunny! We have opportunities for groups or individuals who would like to participate in our Community Garden. During the spring and fall, we are always looking for groups to help us prepare or winterize our gardens. During growing season, we are looking for independent individuals or families who would like to follow our map and tasks. These tasks are flexible and can happen during our operating hours or during afternoons, evenings or weekends!

Organizing Recycling

Are you passionate person about caring for the environment? Would you like to help us be more pro-active with our recycling? We need a consistent person to help ensure that we are doing our best for the planet!

Various Seated Tasks

These tasks change throughout the seasons, but here are some ideas as to what this looks like; changing table decorations, writing the menu on the chalkboard, other artistic ideas that arise.

Sweeping

We have janitors that are doing the janitorial tidy up at the end of each day, Monday-Friday, but sometimes it is nice to get some help! Would you enjoy doing a quick sweep of the hall after lunch?
